LLIBERDON

Asturian folk Music Group

Lliberdon is a small town of the oriental coast of Asturies. With him a river and a village are identified, located in the north slope of the mountain of the Sueve, but Lliberdon also wants to be a tribute to one of the best Asturian pipers in beginning of this century: Ramon Garcia Tuero, the piper of Lliberdon.

The group Lliberdon is born in the first months of the year 1986 with an double objective: the recovery and the diffusion of the astur traditional music. The origin of its components facilitates the recovery work, because some belong to communities interested in the investigation of the folclore, and others were part of groups like: " Guercu ", " Beleño ", " Merlin ".
The diffusion work begins in the spring of 1986,after of selecting several themes to interpret them with the acoustic instruments that the group has: Asturian pipe, Tambor, fiddle, flutes, Guitars, Harpa, Zanfona, Bandurria, Acurdion,..
Lliberdon has been able to be one of the folc groups with a very amusing and interactive direct and it has diffused the traditional music with performances for Asturies and also outside of her in Galicia, Leon, Castilla, Cantabria, Extremadura, Euskadi, Switzerland, Breizh.

In the year 1988 appears in the market their first record with the stamp Sonifolk and they carries out a videotape in collaboration with the theatrical group " Quiquilimon " and the Municipal Foundation of Culture of the City council of Xixon.

A work that Lliberdon considers important it is to give to know the Asturian music among the scholars, task that develops at the request of the schools and in collaboration with different official entities supporting the creation of a school of traditional music in Xixon for the course 98-99 that counts at the moment with more than fifty students.

The members of Lliberdon also work in other facets of the folclore like production of new editions of old recordings in slate disks, to play in spigots, weddings, theatrical animation of street, collaboration in the Concierto Asturies", participation in festivals in defense of the natural patrimony, in defense of the Asturian language, for the Insubordination and other works in collaboration with etnographies groups. It is also necessary to highlight the work line opened up in the tona in which the group used traditional instruments to wrap up melodies that up to now were only heard interpreted by the bagpipe and the voice

Lliberdon has a second record, published in the year 1992, under the title "Camin de Bres". It appears in some television programs and it collaborates with radio stations in the diffusion of the Asturian traditional music, work in which collaborated also with the mixed Society of tourism of Gijon in some points of the Route of the Silver, in the year 1996. In this year it participated in representation of Asturias in the Interceltic festival of An Orient (Breizh), collaborating with a theme in the disk of the 25º anniversary of the Festival. It published their third work discografico "Tamos fartos" in 1997, year in which also participated in the edition of the disk double Celtic Nations

In the year 98 it continued with their diffusion work for Asturies and collaborated with the group Merli­n in the recording of a theme for the disk Celtic Nations II
